Christmas '08

It's lean times for Santa these days. Due to the recent economic crisis Santa had to sell off a few of his reindeer to keep his place at the North Pole.

Fortunately, at the Bauer house, 2 excited little girls woke on Christmas morning just as Santa wheeled his cart away.

Aunt Sarah was able to spend some quality time with the girls.

Uncle Sam and Aunt Rach did some catching up.

And Mi-Mi and Poppy took Edie to her 1st performance of "The Nutcracker"!

Happy Birthday Lily!!

Mommy and Daddy sure were proud of the Hello Kitty cake they made for me.

I let Edie share a baby so she would not feel left out.

Snacks at the kitchen table at the start of a wonderful party.

"Happy Birthday" sung in the key of "L"

Edie's School Christmas Songs

My school had a holiday party at AB Tech the other day. We got to show off our songs we learned and afterwards had a feast of cookies, appetizers and deserts. I am in the back row in the center wearing a darling purple dress.

Edie's Photography Session

Here the food on Lily's mouth creates a subtle distraction to the overall cuteness of the subject.

Using the objects in the foreground I can utilize depth to help frame the shot. The plant is a nice touch too.

I was just playing around with the landscape setting on Daddy's camera here. The coffee cup and blanket take away from my desired effect but I thought I found a good substitute for Millie since she was napping.

Daddy has been working a lot so this one was just cute of Lily who was happy to have him home.

A November Trip To The Cabin

After a months of non-stop work on a campaign for a friend, blog updating, politics overload and start up of a new counseling service, Edie is exhausted and needs a stress free weekend at the cabin.
Uncle Gordon is just glad to be out of the truck after a 6 hour drive in the dark.

Edie posing next to one of her sculptures she entered in the local art shows recently.

What a great hike! Why is everyone else so tired?

You go in the cave. No, you go in.

Hold on Lily, and don't forget your orange vest.

Less Writing=More Pictures

Daddy says he very busy these days so he will try and send pictures more often but probably not with silly little notes about them. He says he will write something when he can. Lily and I don't understand this because he has not worked on the house in 2 weeks, we aren't going anywhere that takes up too much of his time, he comes home from work earlier than ever and still he can't write anything? C'mon Daddy! We spend all of OUR time prancing around acting cute so you can take pictures and write something witty. Alright. That's it. We're going on strike. From here on out we're not smiling for any pictures. And we're not going to be cute.

The Cabin

It's always fun to head to the cabin. lily and I have a hard time sitting still in the truck for so long but we know it's worth it.

I think I'll stretch my legs a little and get my bearings.

Opah showed Miele and I how to set up a tent so we could have our own fort. Opah, are you sure that's how it is supposed to look? I didn't think the door faced the sky.

I love when Opah reads to me. He tells funny stories too. It's so cozy here.

Let's go catch some butterflies and bugs!

A walk across the suspension bridge is scary but we make it over to the other side of the river.

Uncle Gene tries to feed Miele to the crawfish.

Sometimes, us girls just need to nap and this will make a fine resting place.

Got to dry out those bathing suits for tommorrow's activities.

Daddy, how about a little swing time before dinner? Please?

Mommy, Daddy, Uncle Tim, SuSu and Opah relax after a fine Baily Steak Dinner. While Uncle Gene shows the girls how to get a fire started using various flamable liquids.

An evening filled with large fires, drinking, smores and fireworks. What could make it better? GHOST STORIES! "Now I gotcha', now I'm gonna' eat cha"

Wake up everybody. We're ready to go to the pond!

Come on Daddy! We're ready to go to the pond!

Daddy let's Miele and I pet the fish while Uncle Tim catches crawfish for bait. I caught my 1st 5 fish ever!

Mommy dips Lily in while we go test the waters.

Yay for Su-Su! She brought all kinds of fun stuff to swim with. Now don't forget Opah, after you blow up the rafts with the car pump, remember to turn off the car or the battery will die and Daddy will have a long walk back to the cabin to get his truck that Uncle Tim and Mommy took back there to have naps.

Nothing beats a hard day of swimming and relaxing at the pond like some good watermellon

Except, of course, to do it all with family!
