The Little Olympian

After a couple of weeks of joining the "Little Sparklers" program at the local Gymnastics center, I graduated to the next level and although I may not be dressed as fancy as everyone else, I think I understand the general concepts involved here. Balance, focus, strength and poise.

1 foot in front of the other, hands to help my balance and then my dismount....

BIG FINISH!

Yes, I agree with you Phillip. The stretching and "bridge" techniques we have learned certainly made your arms longer. And look at this; I can bend my leg and rest my foot on my knee like the grown-ups do!

Yeah, so I definitely see myself going for the gold by the time I'm 14. I'm thinking perhaps wowing everyone with my Inverted Iron Cross to Triple Lindy dismount on the "rings" competition. I've been perfecting my floor routine and I must say, I see some promise in that as well. Then again, I always wanted to be a race car driver.

BIG FINISH!

EDIE THE GARDENER

I spent a long time today planting new trees and flowers. The flowers, we picked out at the store and placed them in the 2 front gardens. Daddy brought home a Dogwood, 2 Wild Cherry trees and a White Pin from a job-site he is clearing.

It's a good idea to dig a hole a little larger than the plant itself. I then mix some Peat Moss with some Potting Soil and place it with the new plant.

Then just wait for rain!

PLEASE COMMENT. WE ARE STARTING TO THINK NOBODY LOVES US.

COUCH TIME WITH LILY

Hey everyone! I see Edie reading books all the time and I thought I'd give it a try. This one has a bird on it, cool.

Whoa. Suddenly........getting...sleepy. Can't...keep.....eyes.....open.

Hey, I'm back! Yeah, so books are great and Edie and Mommy and Daddy are always reading them to me and I can't wait to be able to read myself and...

I think I could use a nap.

DINNER TIME

Mommy and Daddy thought they should try to give Lily a little rice cereal just to see if she would even be interested. Ah the possibilities.... I can teach her how to use a spoon. We can take turns feeding each other and share the peas and carrots. Before you know it we'll be making dinner for Mommy and Daddy!
Whoops. Lilly took 3 bites in a row and spit the rest out onto her face, the table, and Mommy's hand. Well, we'll try again in a few months.

4 MONTHS THEN AND NOW

Edie here. You know, looking back to when I was 4 months old; I realize that little plastic toys and things that go "BUZZ" and "CLICK" are not what the world is about. Sure, they help with motor skills and sound identification, as well as helping to hone one's dexterity and sense of touch and depth perception but come on! Growing up is more than being infatuated with the latest plastic gizmo from China or becoming completely focused on some mindless toy with no use in the "Real World". Get Real People. I only hope my little sister Lily can one day take a cue from me and not even deal with the inane toys Mommy and Daddy get us involved with just so they can take pictures and laugh with their friends when we strike a cute pose. Lily, if you are reading this, don't fall for it. Don't give in. Be strong and listen not, to the delicious plastic siren song of the Exer-Saucer.

Hey, turn that off.

Lily here. Thanks for those pearls of wisdom big sister.

I think I'll just kick back, relax, listen to some hip-hop and learn from your mistakes. I'll let Mommy and Daddy think I'm still at a 4 month old reading level while actually, I'm submitting plans to all the major auto makers for my design of a new carbohydrate based fuel source that not only can be used to power vehicles but may also reduce your cholesterol when eaten at breakfast. See you later.
